Improving childhood immunisation statistics – recording next of kin

Thank you to our network for the dedicated and hard work on improving childhood immunisation rates which is increasing each week.  One way to ensure immunisation information transfers from your PMS system to the Aotearoa Immunisation Register (AIR), is to ensure the child’s next of kin is recorded as in the event it is missing; the immunisation isn’t counted.

Front desk staff (and others) who transfer information on the enrolment form into the PMS must ensure the next of kin has been recorded.  If the parent/caregiver has not recorded a NOK in the enrolment form, please check with the parent/caregiver.

Vaccinators should also check that a child has a NOK recorded.  If missing, check the scanned enrolment form or request assistance from an admin colleague.

This is a simple and easy way to capture the practice’s efforts in ensuring every child’s immunisation is counted.

Clinical Skills for Nurses

We are working with Comprehensive Care PHO to develop another Clinical Skills Day for nurses and are keen to hear what nurses would like to have included in the workshop.

Watch for a questionnaire that will be sent out on Friday.
