Coronial Recommendation to Frontline Staff
| Recently the Coroner wrote to the Ministry of Health and asked that we disseminate a letter clarifying the legal ability of frontline doctors and nurse practitioners to complete assessment paperwork under section 8 of the Mental Health Act.
Here is the link to this communication from Dr Joe Bourne, Chief Medical Officer.
Please ensure the Primary Care Clinicans and Nurse Practitioners within your practice are aware of this.

Auckland PHO Clinician’s Resource Manual | We are pleased to publish our new Clinician’s Resource which has been designed to help new GPs, Nurse Practitioners and Practice Nurses integrate smoothly into your practice. It contained an outline of the history of healthcare within New Zealand (for overseas clinicians) and an overview of the services and funding Auckland PHO provides.
The Resource is on the Auckland PHO website.
Also, coming up is the Nurse Onboarding Check List to support new staff orientation to your practice.
