PSAAP Capitation Funding Offer	Thank you to the practices that have already taken the time to review the PSAAP information and provide feedback. Changes to Former Refugee Patient Funding Eligibility	Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) are making changes to primary care eligibility funding for former refugee patients. Funding has historically been available to general practices to cover some of the costs associated with health care for former refugees. These changes are to address service variation for former refugee groups across Aotearoa New Zealand. The changes in eligibility are as follows: Reduce funded eligibility from 10 years to five (5) from the date of arrival in NZ (noting there is an intention to reduce this to 2 years nationally) A cap on the number of funded standard and extended visits beyond the first 2 years Change the eligibility for the 90-minute visit to non-quota refugees only (as quota refugees have access to extended reviews at the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre). Changes will be made to claim forms from 1 July. Practices will be required to submit a refugee patient’s ‘Date of Arrival’ on the claim form (this is the date the patient arrived in New Zealand (or date of claim lodged if a Convention Refugee or Current Asylum Seeker), not the date they enrolled in the practice). Who is affected? This applies to all refugees enrolled in your practice who you are making a claim for. Refugee groups include: Quota refugee (attended Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre) – includes Refugee Quota & Refugee Quota Family Reunification Refugee Family Support Category, Community Organisation Refugee Sponsorship (CORS) Programme or Afghan Emergency Resettlement Category Current Asylum Seeker and Convention Refugee It is important to note that these changes are being implemented nationally and apply across all PHOs. Auckland PHO will continue to work with Health New Zealand to understand the impact of these changes and will keep practices informed as further details become available.
