Mental Health Referrals and Support December and January	Tanya Clark – Auckland PHO’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Manager will be on surgical leave from Monday 8 December until 5 January 2026. Libby Blore, an experienced mental health nurse and Auckland PHO HIP, will manage your M2M referrals and provide advice in Tanya’s absence as well as providing support as required to HIPs and Health Coaches. If you have any questions about a referral or need to discuss a patient, email libby@aucklandpho.co.nz, or phone the Auckland PHO office 09 379 4022.
Heidi in Practice Webinars	Three Heidi in Practice webinars were held in November. Each 30-minute, bite-sized session offers practical guidance on consultation style, customisation, and strategies to enhance patient interactions. Annual Awards and RSVP Numbers	Thank you to those practices who have RSVP’d to the Auckland PHO Annual Awards evening next Thursday – 11 December. Friendly reminder to practices who haven’t RSVP’d yet, to please let komal@aucklandpho.co.nz know the names of staff attending and any dietary requirements they may have. Also to note: If your practice attendance has changed, please let Komal know as Auckland PHO is billed per head prior to the event. We look forward to seeing you all there!
GP Recruitment – Suggestions	Even under pressure, set non-negotiable clinical and communication competencies Ensure a skills checklist is used during interviews to ensure candidates meet essential requirements Be upfront about the practice environment and expectations If the candidate needs upskilling, agree a training plan before hiring Above all, always undertake a reference check of at least two Referees (whom the candidate has reported to in previous roles).
