Welcome to new additions to our Practice and Governance whānau	New Practices We are delighted to welcome Turuki Health Care and Quay Med to the Auckland PHO whānau. Turuki Health Care provides general practice services from two sites in Panmure and Māngere. In addition to primary care, they deliver a wide range of social, wellbeing and whānau support services, reflecting their holistic approach to improving health outcomes for the communities they serve. Quay Med joins us with two general practice locations in Britomart and Wynyard Quarter, bringing high-quality, patient-centred care to the heart of Auckland's central city. We are truly honoured that these two outstanding healthcare providers have chosen to become part of the Auckland PHO whānau. Their commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality primary care aligns strongly with our vision of supporting thriving practices and healthier communities. New Auckland PHO Co-opted Directors As part of strengthening Auckland PHO's governance for the future, the Board is currently updating the Auckland PHO Constitution to ensure it provides a fit-for-purpose governance framework that supports our organisation's ongoing growth and strategic direction. To support this transition and ensure continuity of governance, the Board is pleased to welcome three new co-opted Directors, who bring a wealth of experience across primary care, governance, and clinical leadership. Dr Sam King holds an MBChB and a Master's in Healthcare Law and Ethics. He is an Advisor with the Medical Protection Society and works clinically in general practice in Papatoetoe. Dr Steven Young is a GP Director and owner of Cairnhill Health Centre and practises at the Tongan Health Society. He is a member of the Minister of Health's Primary Care Advisory Group, bringing valuable national primary care insight to the Board. Nurse Practitioner Tania Kemp is Director and owner of Aotea Health on Great Barrier Island. She is an active member of the Hauora Taiwhenua Rural Health Network and the Urgent Care and After-Hours Clinical Governance Group, contributing extensive expertise in rural health and clinical governance. We are delighted to welcome Sam, Steven and Tania to the Auckland PHO Board and look forward to the knowledge, experience, and perspectives they will bring as we continue to strengthen primary care across our network. You can read more about our Board members on the Auckland PHO website. New Staff Member The team are delighted to welcome Dawn Borovich to Auckland PHO and to introduce her to our network. Dawn has joined us as our Administration Assistant, bringing valuable experience from her previous roles with the adverse events team at Auckland Hospital and the Starship Foundation. Her strong administrative background, customer-focused approach, and commitment to supporting others make her a wonderful addition to the Auckland PHO whānau. When you contact the Auckland PHO office, Dawn will most likely be the friendly voice answering your call and helping to connect you with the right person. We are delighted to have her on board and know that many of you will get to know her over the coming months. Please join us in giving Dawn a warm welcome.
Webinars introducing Auckland PHO’s new Data Platform, Mira	We are continuing to make good progress on Auckland PHO’s new digital reporting and claiming platform, Mira, which will progressively replace Mōhio during July. The new platform has been designed with practices in mind, providing a simpler, more intuitive experience for reporting, claiming, and accessing practice information. Rollout will occur in stages, allowing implementation to align with individual Practice Management Systems (PMS) and practice readiness. We anticipate all practices will have transitioned to the new platform by August.   To help familiarise practices with the platform before go-live, we invite all practice staff to attend a network webinar where we will provide a demonstration of the system and answer any questions. IM Benzetacil instead of Bicillin	In case you have missed it There is a shortage of Bicillin L-A - used for the prophylaxis of rheumatic fever and treatment of syphilis. An alternative formulation, Benzetacil, has been sourced. Please read this update for primary care for more details.
Updating your PMS system for Immunisation Claiming	Claiming – Action Needed Health NZ has worked with PMS vendors and PHOs throughout 2025 and 2026 to support a coordinated release of updated immunisation claiming and recording functionality across PMS systems, including new electronic claiming codes for vaccine coadministration fees  and the removal of reliance on manual Health NZ back payment processes currently used to support some claims.  Health NZ released the updated ELECTRONIC claiming codes on 24 June 2026. This means practices need to be using updated PMS versions to ensure correct payment for immunisations delivered from 1 July 2026. If practices are seeing any immunisation claims being rejected, they should cease claiming and contact their PMS vendors to confirm if any further actions are required to update their systems. Once the updates are completed, they can resubmit any rejected claims for payment and submit any outstanding claims.
