Discretionary Funding Pool | This is a reminder about the Auckland PHO Discretionary Funding Pool, a programme funded through our flexible funding to support practices in providing additional care where no other funding streams are available. Key Points to Note
The Discretionary Funding Pool enables practices to provide additional support and treatment for patients identified by clinicians as requiring care beyond existing funded services.
Each practice is allocated a quarterly budget, based on a formula that includes weighting for high needs populations. While allocated at a practice level, the funding is available for all patients where there is a demonstrated clinical need.
Allocations are distributed at the beginning of each quarter.
Practices have flexibility to determine how their budget is used, allocated, and managed in line with patient needs.
Any unspent funding will roll over into the following quarter. However, at the end of the financial year (30 June), any remaining balance will be returned to the main PHO fund for redistribution in the next financial year. We encourage practices to continue making full use of this funding to support patients with unmet needs. Further information regarding the Discretionary Funding Pool can be found on the Auckland PHO website, in the resource library (password aucklandpho) If you have any questions or would like further guidance, please email barbara@aucklandpho.co.nz |
Shared Digital Health Record Webinar Weds 25 March 2026
| Learn about taking part in the Shared Digital Health Record: Webinar – Wednesday 25 March at 5.30pm Message from Health NZ – Digital Services Primary Health Organisations (PHOs), general practice, telehealth and urgent/afterhours care providers are invited to a webinar to learn more about taking part in the Shared Digital Health Record. A Health NZ Digital Services project team is currently engaging with some healthcare providers to onboard to the new data service. The Shared Digital Health Record will enhance the health information available to healthcare providers through shared health record systems, such as shared electronic health records. For example, if someone is away from home and needs urgent medical care, the healthcare provider will be able to see key medical information about them. This information will help providers to give the best treatment and care. Health information is already shared in some regions and places – the Shared Digital Health Record will enable this across the country. The webinar is on Wednesday 25 March at 5.30pm. You’ll learn about how the Shared Digital Health Record data service works and how to onboard to the service. There’ll be the opportunity to ask questions, hear insights from early adopter practices, and learn how practices will be supported to onboard over the coming months through their PHO. Register now or please pass this on to others who you think would be interested. Ngā mihi, SDHR Change and Comms Team Digital Services |
