Cervical Screening History Integration – Steps Needed

Lack of access to Cervical Screening History has been identified as a barrier for screen takers and participants for opportunistic and planned screening. To address this, the NCSP are delivering a Cervical Screening Summary integration which will integrate with Practice Management Systems (PMS) and provide secure access to Cervical Screening Histories to further enable opportunistic and planned screening.

Information Access Terms of Use for General Practices and End Users

In accordance with the Health (National Cervical Screening Programme) Amendment Act 2021, Health NZ have established clear requirements for accessing Cervical Screening History.

The Information Access and Use Agreement (IAUA) has now been approved. Health NZ will provide an electronic link allowing the authorised signatory to complete the form online. Please note that Health NZ can only accept signatures submitted through this electronic platform.

Pilot Health NZ is running a pilot with a small number of Indici users during the late February-March 2025 period. This is an opportunity to trial the functionality and gather feedback, making any necessary changes before rolling out to all Indici users. Roll out for MedTech Evolution and MyPractice will occur over the next few months as they complete their development. Briefing packAdditional details can be found in this briefing pack, which includes information on the cervical screening history summary, how it can be accessed, key milestones and support for practices and end users.

Action required:

To ensure a smooth integration, NCSP are asking Practice Managers/Principals to review staff information in the PMS, to ensure staff details are correct and avoid any issues accessing the cervical screening history. Key information to verify:

  1. HPI Common Person Number (aka HPI Practitioner ID)

  2. Full Name

  3. Registration Authority Number (e.g. Medical & Nursing Council Number)

  4. HPI Facility or Organisation ID

  5. HPI Facility or Organisation Name
