The Auckland PHO Board

The Board is the legal authority for Auckland PHO. Directors are Directors representing the interests of Auckland PHO's constituents, both constitutional and moral. As such, both the Board and its constituents are entrusted to ensure that Auckland PHO is soundly managed for the benefit of the community it serves.

Currently there are Six Board members:

  • 2 elected GP providers - Dr Lisa Eskildsen and Dr Alistair Somerville 
  • 2 elected Practice Nurse or Practice Manager Providers - Stella McFarlane and Judy Davis
  • 1 Iwi member - Aroha Hudson
  • 1 Community co-opted - Donna Tamaariki

  • Over 30 years nursing experience in Accident and Medical, Theatre and Primary Health
  • Established health services on Waiheke Island
  • Strong Maori health gain focus

Donna Tamaariki

Donna Tamaariki

Donna Tamaariki - Community Director

Donna is the daughter of Tamaiti and Alice Tamaariki. She has worked in the area of health and community development for more than 20 years, identifying gaps and designing and implementing projects on a regional and national level across the community and corporate sectors. Donna is a director of Kaitiaki Enterprises Ltd, a company that specialises in cultural and historic tours and events in and around the Waitematā. She has a Diploma in Adult Education and delivers the Level 4 Certificate in Waka Ama for Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.

Donna is the chair of Culture and Tourism committee and the appointed Director of the Ngāti Whātua Health Clinic companies.

Dr Lisa Eskildsen

Lisa has worked in General Practices in Auckland for over 20 years.  Currently:

  • GP at member practice Calder Medical Centre (Auckland City Mission)

Her other current roles within primary care also include:

  • GP Liaison Auckland PHO
  • Safety in Practice Clinical Lead (GP) Waitemata and Auckland DHB
  • Regular Practice Reviewer for Inpractice NZ (formative reviews with doctors on the General Medical Register NZMC)

Her particular areas of interest include safer systems in General Practice, providing quality general practice with a focus on equity, and supporting doctors for their own continuous quality improvement.

Dr Alistair Sommerville

Alistair has been a GP owner at Carinhill Medical Centre, Epsom for 8 years and was elected on to the Board in 2017.
