Increased risk of measles

On Friday 3 February Manatū Hauora and Te Whatu Ora were advised by Australian authorities of a confirmed case of measles on an international flight from Abu Dhabi to Melbourne. New Zealand health authorities were informed of New Zealand based contacts who were on the same flight.

Importation with travellers to NZ and transmission of measles is a significant public health risk, especially in unvaccinated or immunosuppressed people. See Te Whatu Ora – Measles Update for Clinicians

For further information for Auckland please see Healthpathways; measles.

Go well Teams – let’s hope the Cyclone blows itself out by tomorrow.

Ngā mihi
